Verheek Family

"NEW" family search...

Amazing!! Exciting!! Thrilling!! Phenomenal!! I can not find adequate words to describe my feeling of energy about the new.familysearch.org that after two months of knowing that there was a new program here in Washington State I was finally prompted by my granddaughter Hillary. She called last Sunday evening because she was energized about it. Joan and Hillary were invited to Sunday dinner at the Stake President's home. He sat down with Hillary and showed her how it works... she called me because she had a question about my father Charles Benjamin Hyndman [whose picture is on my website] because his name was not attached yet. More about that later.

Reana had called me a couple weeks earlier asking about my dad and asking for a picture to use in a school project. So when Hillary called talking about the same thing I assumed it was Reana again without looking at the caller ID...but I was wrong. Anyway, Hillary walked me through registering on the "NEW" site and I emphasis "NEW" because it is. I was also in error when I assumed it was just a remodel of the old site... wrong, wrong, wrong... it is so amazing!! When I think of how hard it was searching out my four generations the long tedious way over the last forty years it brings tears to my eyes how wonderful the process has become. I encourage all of you to register on the site and enter a new realm of learning and participating in the great plan of salvation. Thank you so much Hillary for opening my eyes in a beautiful way.

Now to tell you and give an example of the beauty of the program. After I ended the conversation with Hillary I logged on to the "NEW" FamilySearch and took the short 10 minute tutorial. Then I looked at "Me and Family" where I noticed the little icons that were described. Under my grandfather Abel Verheek I noticed the yellow light which signaled that work needed to be done. We had assumed all his work was done because Grandma Verheek had gone to the Temple in 1943 and we were told did his work... she was sealed to her husband but he was NOT sealed to his parents. The computer asked me if I would like to perform the work. I typed in the affirmative and it immediately printed up the sheet with the barcode to take to the Temple. I'm on a sealing team and we were going to the Temple on Friday night. I took the sheet to the Temple office and the gal printed out the little card to take to the Sealing Room... my grandfather Verheek was sealed to his parents...Victor Sokolowsky was the Temple Sealer and Dee Fry was proxy for my grandfather... so easy... it was exciting.

Today at our Ward Conference we were told to write down any ideas that came to us in our meetings as personal revelation. That maybe we would also receive ideas during the week. At one point in our meeting it came very clear to me that now was the time for me to be diligently working on genealogy and transfer the research I had done to be sure things were accurate for my family.

I'm also going to add pictures on occasion to this blog of family members from the past. Families are so important... I want to be with my own family forever and ever. I invite you to help with the family search and you might feel the love and desire to participate! How blessed we are!
